Harry L Jones Sr. Golf Course

Harry L. Jones Sr. Golf Course sits just off I-77, only minutes from Charlotte Douglas International Airport. As a result, golfers enjoy quick and easy access whether they are local or traveling. The course features 6,978 yards of Bermuda greens, a 3-hole Par 3 course, and a large driving range, giving players multiple ways to practice and play.

Originally, the land served as a landfill. However, in 1987, Kidwell & Hurdzan Inc. transformed the property into a golf course. The firm specializes in environmentally responsible design, which helped turn the site into a sustainable community asset. At first, the course operated as Renaissance Golf Course. Later, in 2017, Mecklenburg County renamed it to honor Harry L. Jones Sr., the county’s first African American County Manager and a recipient of the Order of the Hornet, the county’s highest distinction.

Today, the course delivers an affordable and welcoming golf experience. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned player, Harry L. Jones Sr. Golf Course offers a place to enjoy the game at every skill level.

Sunset Hills Golf Course

Sunset Hills Golf Course sits in northwest Mecklenburg County, just off Brookshire Boulevard. Originally, the landowner transformed a farm pasture into a golf course designed for friendly competition. Later, Bill Love redesigned the layout, and the course opened to the public in 1952.

Today, Sunset Hills offers an 18-hole regulation course, a 9-hole learner’s course, and a full driving range with dedicated practice areas. Throughout the property, Bermuda grass stretches from tee to green. As a result, players enjoy consistent playing conditions at an affordable price.

Because of its approachable design and value-driven rates, Sunset Hills continues to welcome golfers of all skill levels for a fun and accessible experience.

Dr. Charles L. Sifford Golf Course

The Dr. Charles L. Sifford Golf Course sits in Charlotte’s South End, just minutes from Uptown. This 9-hole public course combines skyline views with a rich and meaningful history.

Originally, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers designed the course in the 1930s as an 18-hole layout and opened it as Bonnie Brae Golf Course. However, during the 1970s, construction of I-77 reshaped the property and reduced the course to nine holes. As a result, the course became known as Revolution Park Golf Course. Later, in 2010, the City renamed the course to honor Dr. Charles L. Sifford, the first African American to earn a PGA Tour card.

Today, the course offers Bermuda grass from tee to green, along with a full practice facility that includes a driving range and short game area. In addition, affordable rates and a time-efficient layout make the course a popular choice. Ultimately, The Dr. Charles L. Sifford Golf Course continues its role as Charlotte’s community course, welcoming players of all ages and skill levels.

Charles T. Myers Golf Course

Charles T. Myers Golf Course sits in east Charlotte and opened in 1986 on the former Harrisburg Road landfill. In 1997, the course expanded to 18 holes, further enhancing the playing experience. Designed by Bill Love, the course delivers a balanced and engaging layout.

The par-72 course plays 6,783 yards and features Bermuda greens throughout. In addition, ponds and strategically placed bunkers create variety and challenge for golfers of all skill levels.

Beyond the main course, players can enjoy a 3-hole Par 3 course, a dedicated short game area, and a large driving range. Most importantly, Charles T. Myers Golf Course serves as the home of the Mecklenburg County Golf Academy, making it a central destination for both learning and play.
